Cooler water slows algae down, so this is the easy stretch. The catch is wind: dry season blows leaves, dust and pollen into the pool constantly, and low rainfall plus evaporation concentrates salts and hardness. Baskets fill faster than people expect and water levels drop enough to change the chemistry.

Shock ahead of the storm, cut power to the pump and cover the equipment, and bring in loose furniture. Afterwards it is skim, clean the baskets, run the filter, and rebalance.
